As part of learning about the human body and healthy choices, the Grade 5 students conducted an experiment to find out about the effect of acid on teeth. They thought carefully about the drinks available to them, and made a list of some healthy and unhealthy options. Instead of using human teeth in the experiment (which would be quite difficult :), the students used boiled eggs, since it is known that the components of the egg shell are similar to the enamel on our teeth.
The students planned a fair test, focusing on which variables they would change or keep the same. Here are some photos of the experiment. And now we wait to see the results in two weeks... Which drink damages our teeth the most? Any predictions?
